TRAVEL TO CUBA
WITH APA IN 2017
APA is organizing its fifth “learn- ing partner” trip to Havana, Cuba, to explore the psychology
community and to attend PsicoSalud
2017, the eighth International Confer-
ence of Health Psychology, convened by
the Cuban Society of Health Psychology
and the National Group of Psychol-
ogy of the Ministry of Public Health
of the Republic of Cuba. The theme
of the conference is “Working for the
Well-Being of All.” The four-day con-
ference will gather participants from
throughout the Americas and the world.
The dates of the trip are Oct. 27–
Nov. 5, 2017, with an optional extension
through Nov. 9, to visit the interior and
east of Cuba and meet with university-based psychologists.
The program will include:
■ Orientation lectures on psychology
education in Cuba, the Cuban health-care system, and the history and status of
psychology in Cuba.
■ Visits to Cuban institutions, clinics and

Miami on Oct. 26, 2017, for an orientation lecture and dinner. The group departs
for Cuba the next morning. For the first
four days of the trip, the group will stay
in Old Town Havana to be immersed
in Cuban culture and history. During
the conference, the group will stay at the
Palco Hotel adjacent to the Havana Conference Center. The optional extension
to Santiago de Cuba after the conference
will feature meetings with Cuban colleagues working in academic and practice
settings in Santiago de Cuba.
