In 2014, there were 12,362 online job postings for
licensed (or license-eligible) psychologists in the
United States, according to online labor market
data provider Burning Glass Technologies. 1
• Of those postings that specified an
industry, 2 49 percent were in health care and
social assistance, 23 percent were in public
administration, 19 percent were in educational
services and 9 percent were in other industries.
• New York City (572), Chicago (481), San
Francisco (380), Seattle (333), and Los Angeles
(290) had the most job postings.
• Cities with the most job postings per
100,000 population3 (see figure) were Fairbanks,
Alaska ( 40); Manhattan, Kansas ( 38); Mankato,
Minnesota ( 29); St. Cloud, Minnesota ( 28); and
Iowa City, Iowa ( 26).
