Workshop 005 is cosponsored by APA Committee on Aging (CONA).
This intermediate workshop increases the competencies of
psychologists’ work with older adults, drawing on the growing literature on psychological assessment and evidence-based treatment. The content focuses on: (a) unique aspects
of managing professional practice with older patients, (b)
assessment and treatment of late-life depression and anxiety,
(c) cognitive disorders and differential diagnosis of dementias, and (d) psychological and behavioral interventions for
elders at the highest and lowest ends of the continuum of
function, exploring normal aging through serious impairment
due to illness or dementia.
