Div. 17 welcomes new Leadership Academy class
Div. 17 (Society of Counseling Psychology) has
named 10 early career psychologists and graduate
students to its 2014 Leadership Academy, which
trains up-and-coming leaders in multicultural
leadership, introduces them to the division’s structure
and leaders, and provides the opportunity to develop
leadership projects with mentors.
Participants will present their projects during APA’s
Annual Convention in Washington, D.C., Aug. 7–10.
The participants are German Cadenas, Milo Dodson,
Lisa Ferdinand, Dianna Marisol González, Amber
Hewitt, Catherine Hsieh, Dominique Malebranche, Val
Spektor, Christopher Stults and Laurel Watson.

Div. 2 (Society for the Teaching of Psychology
— STP) welcomes proposals for the STP Annual
Conference on Teaching, to be held Oct. 10–
11 in Atlanta. Targeted to psychology teachers
from high schools, two-year and four-year
colleges and universities, the conference will
feature tracks that address each of APA’s new
learning goals for the undergraduate psychology
major: 1) knowledge base in psychology;
2) scientific inquiry and critical thinking; 3)
ethical and social responsibility in a diverse
world; 4) communication; and 5) professional
