students are seeking out additional training in the form of
postdoctoral positions, says Lisa Kearney, PhD, secretary of
the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship
Centers board. This is a necessary step for scientists seeking
top-tier jobs in academe and almost always required for new
